Upper School Curriculum

Grades 7-8 continue to build on the academic foundation prepared by grades K-6:

  • Students study the relevant cultures surrounding writings of the Old Testament and New Testament.
  • In-depth studies of Greece and Rome begin, including the reading of primary sources.
  • Students continue to read classic literature and are introduced to Shakespeare for the first time.
  • Mastery of Latin grammar is attained through Fourth Form Latin and Henle I. Greek is introduced.
  • Arithmetic mastery leads to the pursuit of higher mathematics, beginning with Pre-Algebra and Algebra I.
  • Physical Science prepares students for biology, chemistry, and physics in later study.

Students learn from well-designed materials, high-quality content, and teacher-directed lessons. Classrooms are quiet, disciplined, and orderly, with minimal visual distractions. Students are motivated to work and learn because they are led by knowledgeable, enthusiastic teachers. Students work hard and are rewarded every day with breaks for physical exercise, music, and art.
