New for 2018-2019:  Optional Enrichment Fridays at ACA!!

We are so excited to announce the beginning of optional Fridays at ACA!  Based on the interest of current and new families in our school, we will begin offering the option for enrolled students to participate in a homework and enrichment day on Fridays of regular school weeks.  The day will include the same hours as the rest of our school week (drop-off from 7:35-7:55 until 2:30 p.m.).  Attire will be the same as our Thursdays – essentially another ACA T-shirt day. Students will bring their lunch from home on Fridays.

Optional Fridays will be staffed by a minimum of two of our current teachers.  Should the demand require it, additional staff will be added.  Families must commit to the Friday option for the entire school year.  The applicable days will be the Fridays which coincide with regular ACA school weeks.  There are three Fridays over the course of the year which will be instructional school days for ACA (Sep 7, Jan 25, & April 26). This being said, there are 15 Fridays in the fall semester and 15 Fridays in the spring semester for which this new option will apply.  Families will need to sign a separate commitment/enrollment form and will be billed monthly beginning August 2018 through May 2019. (This will be a completely separate draft from the tuition/fees draft for ACA enrollment.)  Monthly cost will be $165 per student.

The deadline for enrolling students in ACA optional Fridays is May 1.  Should enrollment not be sufficient to cover the cost of providing this option at ACA, families will be notified immediately.

We are so very excited to be able to hear your requests and respond to meet the need for Friday homework help and enrichment for your children.  Friday Option Commitment/Enrollment forms will be available on our website soon.

One of my favorite parts of giving tours to families at ACA is showing them your students’ art creations.  We all agree that Mrs. Goodenough brings out the “artist” in every child with whom she works.  I have considered how we can better let more people know about this local opportunity for students.  Alas, one of our ACA parents discovered such an opportunity!

Student Art Exhibition

Zoe’s Kitchen in Auburn has extended an invitation to our school to showcase our students’ artwork.  They have provided canvases for our students to display their work for approximately six (6) months.  Mrs. Goodenough will be working on projects with our students that will be displayed if your student would like to participate.  Also, should your student wish to donate any of their artwork they have worked on with Mrs. Goodenough, Zoe’s will offer it to the public for sale and give the proceeds to ACA.

Our goal in participating in this event is three-fold:

  • First, we want to raise awareness of our school (and our world-class art teacher) in our community.
  • Second, this endeavor will provide an opportunity for students to learn the joy of charitable giving.
  • Third, we hope to fundraise for school operating expenses through an Art Show. The show’s Reveal Night will be coupled with a Spirit Night.  Through these events, 20% of the restaurant’s proceeds from food sales during the Spirit Night and 100% of monies from any sale of student artwork during the display period will be donated to ACA.

Would you please consider having your student charitably participate in the Zoe’s Kitchen Art Show?  If so, please initial and sign the permission form.  Then turn it in to the ACA office no later than Tuesday, February 20, 2018.  We will only display children’s artwork for which you give us permission to display.  Please keep in mind, we need strong participation in order fill the restaurant walls with artwork, and make for a successful event.

Should you choose not to display, we ask that you consider supporting the event with your attendance, and help us to create a “buzz” by spreading the word to friends and family, and ask them to attend as well.  The Reveal Night is scheduled for the evening of Thursday, March 29th.  Please save the date!

I look forward to going to Zoe’s Kitchen over the spring & summer months and seeing beautiful works of art created by our ACA students!
