Musings

Thanksgiving Day is upon us and with it a reminder of the sacrifices made by the European Pilgrims and the Indigenous Americans as they sought to encourage one another after the fruitful harvest of 1621.  Although a custom of gathering with family and friends had spread through the American colonies, George Washington, in 1789, proclaimed November 26 as an official day of Thanksgiving.  His words bear remembering.

“Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor …now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th of November next to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks for his kind care and protection of the people of this country…”

Have a wonderful time of Thanksgiving!

Christmas Program

We invite you and your family to join us at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 445 Shelton Mill Road, Auburn, on Thursday, December 7th at 6:00 for a wonderful time of Christmas celebration among our ACA families. The Christmas program will be held in the sanctuary. Students have enjoyed preparing this Christmas presentation and are excited to share it with you! Following the presentation we will gather in the fellowship hall to partake in desserts, coffee and hot chocolate. (Begin planning which of your family favorites that you’d like to share. The sign-up will be emailed to families next week.)

We ask for students to come dressed in their Wednesday chapel attire. Please have your students there by 5:30 that evening. All students will assemble at the front of the sanctuary with their teachers.  Students will be dismissed to their parents in the Fellowship hall prior to going through the dessert line (with their families).
