Bring Your Bible to School Week
We at ACA want our students to appreciate the truths of the Bible. Throughout next week during Morning Assembly, students will have an opportunity to share their favorite Bible verses. If they choose, students may read specific verses from their Bibles, or they may recite verses from memory. Teachers have encouraged students to consider verses to share. Would you please ask your child/children if they would like to participate in this activity? Remember, this is completely optional.
School pictures are next Wednesday morning, immediately following Chapel. We are still in need of an extra set of hands for a few hours to assist with straightening uniforms, hair and making certain that sweet faces are clean and picture perfect. Contact Mrs. Bryant (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you are available.
After School Art
Mrs. Goodenough has a new after school art class (1st- 7th grades) that begins next Wednesday, October 4th. Please submit your registration to the ACA office. Space is limited and is first come, first serve.
PIZZA HUT BOOK IT! PROGRAM
We want students to learn to read for pleasure (beyond their school assigned reading). In order to encourage this, we are not only participating in the AUBURN READS program, but we are also participating in the Pizza Hut BOOK IT! program. Both of these programs give incentives/rewards to students for meeting specific goals. For each of the upcoming months from October through April, teachers have set reading goals for their classes. October calendars for record-keeping were sent home with students today. When your student achieves their monthly goal, have him/her submit the completed calendar to Mrs. Bryant for a reading reward certificate redeemable for a free personal pan pizza at Pizza Hut. Please note that while class reading goals apply to both AUBURN READS and BOOK IT! reading incentive programs, students will only be eligible for AUBURN READS recognition by reaching their reading goal every month October- April. Completed reading goal calendars will be accepted no later than the end of the first week of the new month. Calendars for November through April will be given out by request.
Team Spirit T-shirt Day
Students and faculty, wear your favorite team t-shirt or sweatshirt on Tuesday, October 17th. Students may wear solid uniform khaki or navy skirts, pants or shorts. Students that choose not to participate in Team Spirit Day should wear their uniforms.
Class Spelling Bees are scheduled for November 15th. Teachers will email parents details as to the times. Word lists will be sent home in Thursday folders for students to study in preparation. Mrs. Kirk and Mrs. Roarke will host an informational meeting for parents on November 1st at noon in the Assembly Room. The top 3 spellers from 1st through 7th grades will advance to the school Spelling Bee, January 17th at 1:00 pm in the Assembly Room.
