Hurricane Harvey Donations

Trinity Classical School in Houston, Texas, is a partner school with The Highlands Latin School in Louisville, Kentucky, just like we are. Since several of you mentioned that you would like to offer an opportunity for ACA students to reach out to a school affected by one of the recent hurricanes, Mrs. Durbin contacted one of those schools which shares our values and vision.  Monetary gifts can be made here – Online Gift Form. Simply put “Harvey Assistance” in the memo line and that money will be used directly for affected families. Other ideas of gifts are generic Visa gift cards (for furniture and home item replacements), grocery store gift cards (HEB or Kroger are the most common stores in Houston), or home improvement store gift cards (such as Lowe’s or Home Depot). Scrip gift card orders for Trinity Classical School can be sent to the attention of Mrs. Deist through next Thursday.

If you or your student would like to make a monetary gift or gift card contribution to assist Trinity Classical School families, please bring it to Mrs. Durbin by Thursday, September 28, at the close of school.  She will compile a package for the families including messages and notes from our students.  (Please note in the text above that you may opt to give online through the site listed above.)

Mrs. Durbin’s Musing:  See You at the Pole!

At ACA we pray.  We pray in Assembly.  We pray at lunch.  We pray in meetings.  We pray with teachers.  We pray with students.  We pray with parents.  We pray in Latin.  We pray in English.  We pray in songs.  Next Wednesday, September 27, ACA students will pray at our flag pole!  “See You at the Pole” began as an opportunity for students, teachers, and parents to gather outside of a school building before the opening of a school day to go before the Lord with praise, thanksgiving, and petitions.

Next Monday and Tuesday, ACA students and teachers (and parents) will be encouraged to submit written prayer praises and requests by placing them in a green box on the piano.  Entries can be anonymous.  I will compile those prayer requests for us to pray through on Wednesday morning at the flag pole.

In terms of the logistics of getting to the flag pole, students and teachers will follow their standard procedures for arrival at school and coming to Chapel.  Once all persons have gathered, we will proceed by classes to the flag pole in front of our school building.  My hope is that we will provide our students with yet another instance of great ways and places to pray.

Parents, we would love for you to join us!  Feel free to bring siblings.  See you at the ACA flag pole next Wednesday!

Niffer’s at the Tracks Spirit Day

Niffer’s at the Tracks (Opelika) has generously offered to host an ALL DAY spirit day for ACA. Head on over there for lunch or after school next Monday, September 25th and grab one of the best burgers in town! Just remember to write ACA on your receipt so that we earn 10%.
