DECEMBER: ACA’s 3rd Annual Jingle Bell Mingle We will once again be having piano concerts featuring our talented ACA students at area retirement homes. This year we would love to possibly add a group to sing Christmas Carols. We usually color and take Christmas cards for the residents and they all really seem appreciative! Contact Mrs. Hayes via email, in your family directory, to volunteer.
DECEMBER: 3rd Annual Cookies for Cops/Sweet Feast for Firemen! Of course we can’t leave out our community police and firefighters! This one is self-explanatory… These folks like sweets and the kids love to see the police cars and firetrucks. We will work out a date that works best for people interested in participating to deliver our goodies! Contact Mrs. Hayes via email, in your family directory, if you would like to join in.
DECEMBER: 2nd Annual Cookie Walk Several ACA families participated last year and enjoyed baking treats to share. Volunteers donate baked items for a bake sale. Proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity. It happens at a time of year that folks are enjoying baking and spreading cheer! This will be the 22nd year for the event, it will be our 2nd time to participate. We will update information as it becomes available.
JANUARY 27th, 2018: Cold for a Cause/Freezin’ for a Reason, The Auburn Polar Plunge to benefit the Lee County Special Olympics. This one was a blast (of Arctic proportions)! Three of our ACA families participated last year. Our hope is that more warm-natured, like-minded friends will join in this go-’round!
MARCH/APRIL/MAY: This last spring, a few of our ACA families volunteered to be “buddies” through Miracle League of East Alabama and it was an amazing experience. The principle is that you play baseball along side a special needs individual and help them with whatever they need help with, encourage them, dance around with them, whatever needs to be done to make the experience enjoyable. Their schedule runs late March through mid-May. Contact Mrs. Hayes via email, in your family directory, for more information.
APRIL: Mrs. Hayes and her 4th grade student have offered to do an ACA Lemonade Stand (or a few throughout town) to benefit Big House in the late spring. They had a ton of success with the LemonAid for a Cause stand when they did it through Community and Cause and felt like folks really enjoyed it, lemonade peddlers and drinkers alike! Contact Mrs. Hayes via email, in your family directory, to brainstorm or volunteer.
